FF14 Datamining: Materia Stat Categories
Each item is associated a Materia Stat Category, also known as MeldParam or MaterializeType in the CSVs.
It affects the percentage multiplier of the stat cap of an item. As of 7.1, this is only meaningful for piety.
The categories appear to be as follows:
Category | Name | Example Item | Notes |
---|---|---|---|
0 | Not Equippable | Anything not equippable | - |
1 | All Jobs | Racial Starting Gear | None of these support melding |
2 | Disciple of War | Hunting Hat | - |
3 | Tank (Fending) Gear | Brass Bastard Sword | - |
4 | Melee (Maiming/Slaying) Gear | Iron Spear | - |
5 | Melee (Striking) | Brass Knuckles | - |
6 | Physical Ranged/Melee (Aiming/Scouting) | Ash Shortbow | - |
7 | Disciple of Magic | Hard Leather Grimoire | - |
8 | Magical Ranged DPS | Sanguine Scepter | - |
9 | Healers | Ash Wand | - |
10 | Crafters/Gatherers | Wood Wailer’s Jacket | Cannot be melded |
11 | Gatherers | Iron Pickaxe | - |
12 | Crafters | Chocobotail Saw | - |
Piety Meld Caps
Unlike other meldable stats, Piety is affected by Materia Stat Categories. This is likely a remnant from piety being a main stat before 5.0.
The Piety meld limit is 70% for all gear except scouting, aiming, and healing gear.
You will probably never encounter this, as the only 70% meld limit gear where melding piety does anything is low level magic gear from A Realm Reborn.
